Introduction from Emergency Coordinator,
Ron Murvine N3AMR
Welcome to the clarion county Pennsylvania Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) website. ARES is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League to provide a framework for support of amateur radio participation in emergency and public service events. The primary purpose of the site is to provide a resource for the approximately ARES members and invite other amateur radio operators to gain an interest in joining this very rewarding facet of amateur radio.
The site is also intended as a resource of information and to strengthen communication with the many other groups who serve as a resource in emergencies or public service. Take some time to learn about or capabilities, as a resource in time of emergency, "When all else fails, amateur radio gets the message through"
We hope you will find the site worth a place in your "favorites" and will contribute to the content by you suggestions for enhancing its value as an information resource.

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes. Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL or any other local or national organization, is eligible for membership in the ARES. The only qualification, other than possession of an Amateur Radio license, is a sincere desire to serve. Because ARES is an amateur service, only amateurs are eligible for membership. The possession of emergency-powered equipment is desirable, but is not a requirement for membership
